Savannah Overload

Sometimes I just can't decide which picture I want to post for everybody to see. We take a hundred shots of the same thing... but each one is so dang cute. So, in case anybody else just watched the most depressing episode of Grey's Anatomy ever... here's a little cheer.

Election Reaction

Well, I have incredibly mixed feelings about the election. While I am very much opposed to Obama's/liberal policies, I can also appreciate the historic magnitude of yesterday's vote. It does bring some pride and solace that my country seems to have finally taken this gigantic leap in overcoming the crippling stigma of a racist country. For this, I am truly grateful. Especially for my daughter's sake.

One of my greatest fears is that Savannah will grow up with the same ignorant ideas of a race-obsessed society. It was a major consideration when we moved to Alabama and I made it my personal responsibility to ensure that she remain color blind to the poisons of a bigoted society. Yesterday made my job a bit easier. I am genuinely proud that she is starting her life in a new era of race relations. Perhaps she will never see, first-hand, the struggle of the past hundred years.

So while I might cringe at the enforcement of each new policy over the next four years, I will celebrate over the advancement of our society as a whole.

First Feeding

We've been feeding Savannah rice in a bottle and with an infant feeder for a while but on Saturday we decided to attempt the spoon. Her doctor was impressed that she was doing so well on rice and told us that as soon as she masters the spoon we can feed her anything we want. She was a little confused at first... but the she couldn't get enough!!! She's getting so big!!!

Halloween 2008

Savannah had a fun filled first Halloween. She got dressed up and went trick-or-treating (for ooohs and aaahhhs only) to all the neighbors' houses. Then she sat out in the driveway with us while we handed out candy. That pretty much wore her out because our little ladybug crash landed pretty early. When she woke back up she wasn't quite as happy. She's been going through a grumpy phase for a few days but luckily it seems to have passed now. Our intention was to go eat some Mexican and then take Savannah to the Halloween Party we went to last year and show her off. We made it halfway to the Mexican Restaurant before Savannah protested. We ended up just coming back home and our neighbors came and sat around the fire pit. Regardless, we all had a pretty fun Halloween '08!!

I like this pic of Savannah and me. Look who's standing behind me. I think he suspects something's up with Savannah's costume.... I don't know... like maybe that it's actually a DOG costume!!! It fit perfectly, and I made the tutu to go with it. I think Brawney was scared we might put a matching one on him. If they'd made one big enough, you know I would have!!

Happy Halloween!

BOO!!

More pics to come! Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Halloween!!

And wanted to tell ya'll that Savannah is growing like crazy!! About a week ago we heard her laugh for the first time. We were eating at O'Charley's and I'm not sure what she thought was so funny, but she laughed out loud. We heard it one more time over the weekend but it still didn't seem like a deliberate laugh. Well, last night we were playing with her on the bed. We'd gone through all her flashcards and toys and I started tickling her with a puppet. She laughed out loud!! A lot!!! There's nothing funnier than a baby laughing!! We tickled her with that puppet till she didn't think it was so funny anymore!! It was awesome!!!

And just so we didn't get too excited about the laughing last night, she followed it up with rolling over this afternoon!!! From her front to her back. I tried to make her do it again, but that only made her really really mad... but she did it and I was watching her!! Man, she's growing up fast!!

Bebe Visits!! And some stats...

Bebe came to visit Savannah. Savannah just thought she was hillarious!! She got a super cute fall jogging suit... custom made by Bebe. And considering she had to get her 4 months shots while she was here, she was in a surprisingly good mood!! She didn't get grouchy or anything. But man, she's really started loving her rice cereal at night!! We tried to put her to bed one night without giving her any and she just wasn't having that!!! Her 4 month check up went amazingly well!! She was 24.75 inches long, 13 pounds, and 40cm head circumference. She's in the 50-75th percentile ranges. And she's ahead of schedule developmentally!!! This is fantastic news, especially since she was 4.5 weeks early!! I've been telling ya'll that she's the smartest baby in the world!!

Robert's Baptism

On Sunday Savannah went to church for the first time. We haven't taken her yet because we were a little worried about how she would handle sitting in a quiet room for an hour. She was awesome!!! She loved the music!! Of course, we always love the music at The Orchard. But she did even better than we expected!! She's our little social ladybug!!

Robert got baptized. He was amazing as well!! Not a peep from either one of them. Isn't he sweet!! His christening gown was soooo pretty! It was the one they used for his big sis Emma. It's made out of Amelia's mom's wedding dress. I don't have a pic of it but he was equally as cute at the lunch afterward.
I remember when Wade was that little!!
