The first week with Savannah Kate was bittersweet. While we were in the hospital everything was fantastic!! Just a sweet little perfect baby!! The day she was born and the day we took her home were two of the happiest days of my life! The doctor told us the day we took her home that her bilirubin levels were starting to rise. We had to take her to the doctor the next morning. At that doctors appt her levels had almost doubled and we had to treat her jaundice. Luckily we were able to get a bilibed brought to our house and home health nurses came every day to check her levels. Unfortunately, we had to leave her on that bed at least 20 hours a day. We were only allowed to get her out to feed and change her. The jaundice also made her very weak and she quit nursing. We had to supplement with formula. During this time I got sick and had a fever. It was a rough few days. We brought her home on Tues, she went on the bed on Wed, and we finally got to get rid of the bed on Sat!! Once she came off the bed, she was strong enough to nurse again and things were much better!!
