JJ's Rocks (con't)

All these pics are taken "behind the scenes" in the basement of the museum.

This pic just shows one of the many many aisles of boxes with museum "stuff" in it. Each box contains some type of acheological artifact... lots have been donated to the museum.

Some building on campus is being renovated and the museum has to keep all their pics... this is a pic of the guy that gave my dad his diploma! I don't remember his name.

This is me by the T Rex head. Just thought it was kinda cool to have dinosaurs laying around.

And this is just a random graduate student. He was working in one of the research rooms that JJ's stuff is in. It's the same room with the walls of clay pots (below). Anyway, as Dr. Chapman was talking to JJ he said something like "you're collection is one of the best we have" to which the graduate student enthusiastically said, "Oh, you're Mr. Sims!!!???" And proceeded to gush all over him... it was pretty cool.

I guess every museum has various skulls laying around. I'm particularly impressed by the pop tarts next to them. I guess working with decaying remains does leave one hungry!!

Here is one of the storage cases used to store JJ's stuff that is not currently on display. There are several that are all this full!

This is just a close up of the trays in the storage case.

They had so many indian pots!! These aren't my grandads but I was just impressed with them. There were 2 walls from floor to ceiling. JJ has some pots but I think they've all been pieced back together. These were still perfectly in tact... amazing!

Here is an eagle that I really liked. Supposedly it was brought from Nuremburg by a private in WWII. Not sure how he managed to travel so far with it... but I thought it was pretty cool.

And here's just an old stuffed bird. No idea where it came from or who donated it... but I was shocked to learn that most older stuffed birds were treated with arsenic and are highly toxic!! So, it really wasn't all that sweet of whoever donated it... maybe it was a failed terrorist attempt!! My guess is that is was some Alabama player.
